I Borrowed Money in a Car Park and Lied About It.

How I paid off £12,000 of debt, built an emergency fund, and finally stopped dreading my bank account with a brain that made it twice as hard.

"I felt like I was the only one not coping with life and money. I was in sinking sand and I didn't know how to get out."

— Me, in my twenties. Maybe you, right now.

Built for overwhelmed brains

WHERE IT STARTED

I had nothing in my account. My overdraft was maxed. My car was stuck.

I was a few years out of university, earning a wage every month, and somehow still drowning. The money would land, feel like a lot, and then vanish on things I couldn't even account for. Bills I'd forgotten. Debt collecting interest. Dopamine hits that felt good for about forty minutes.

Three quarters of the way through every month, the panic would set in. I'd avoid checking my balance. I'd hope nothing would bounce. I'd tell myself next month would be different.

And then one afternoon I was stuck in a paid car park with nothing in my account and a maxed overdraft. I asked a colleague to lend me cash, told them I'd forgotten my purse. Paid them back with money I borrowed from my dad. Felt physically sick the whole drive home.

The shame was the worst part. Because I was the only one, wasn't I? Everyone else seemed to just... cope.

Total debt paid off using the exact method I'll walk you through in this course

£12k

What this course costs. Because I needed something like this and it didn't exist.

£0

Action per lesson. Not a 20-question workbook. One thing. That's it.

1

Lessons that follow my actual story, what I did, in order, that actually worked

6

"I wasn't bad with money because I was irresponsible. I was bad with money because nobody had ever taught me, and I have a brain that makes the standard advice completely useless."

THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF

You recognise at least one of these.

You avoid looking at your bank account

Because whatever's there is either going to make you anxious or confirm what you already feared.

You start budgeting and quit within two weeks

Not because you don't care. Because the system you tried wasn't built for your brain.

You're living paycheck to paycheck

Even on a decent salary. Even when you try to be careful. The money just disappears somewhere.

You feel like the only one not coping.

Everyone else seems to manage. You feel stupid, ashamed, like you should just know how to do this.

You have debt that feels impossible.

You're making minimum payments. The balance barely moves. You've stopped looking at the total.

You spend to feel better then feel worse.

A purchase gives you twenty minutes of relief. Then the guilt kicks in. Then you check your balance.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Six lessons. One action each. Your actual way out.

This isn't a course about willpower or discipline. It's a course about understanding how your brain actually works and building a money system around that, not against it. One small action per lesson. No overwhelm.

01

The car park moment

My story. Where I was. Why shame makes everything worse. Why you are not broken, lazy, or stupid and what was actually going on.

02

Why your brain isn't the problem

The dopamine hit of spending. Why standard budgeting advice fails certain brains completely. What actually works instead and why it's simpler than you think.

03

The one focus: debt first

How I chose one thing and ignored everything else. The debt snowball in plain English, smallest balance first, one at a time, with a dopamine hit every time one clears.

04

The emergency fund: before you feel ready

Why this comes before everything feels fixed. How I saved mine on a tight income. The moment I actually used it and felt relief instead of panic for the first time.

05

The budget your brain can actually stick to

Not a colour-coded spreadsheet. Not 47 categories. The minimum viable budget three to five categories, one weekly check-in, zero perfection required.

06

What freedom actually looks like

Not a yacht. Being able to give to charity. Sleeping through the night. Using money on purpose instead of watching it vanish. What my life looks like now and how to get there.

WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT

Not another course that assumes you just need more willpower.

Every budgeting course I tried assumed I could sit down, make a plan, and execute it consistently forever. They were wrong. Not because I was lazy because that's not how some brains work.

This course is built around the truth that motivation is not reliable, perfectionism is the enemy of progress, and the smallest system you'll actually use beats the best system you'll abandon.

I'm on the NHS waiting list for an ADHD assessment. I've been referred since 2019. I understand neurodivergent brains because I live in one.
